The Generalitat de Catalunya, through ACCIÓ – the agency for the competitiveness of Catalan companies – presented the second edition of Weine Aus Katalonien, a programme that promotes Catalan wines and cavas among importers, distributors and other German professionals.
In the 2014-2015 edition, more than 150 top professionals (importers, distributors, restauranteurs, sommeliers and others) tasted the Catalan wines and cavas presented by the wineries themselves in the two promotional events held in Berlin and Hamburg.
The Weine Aus Katalonien has as an example, the Catalan Wines USA in the United States, which is now in its sixteenth year.
The German market imports 22% of Catalan wine and cava exports and it is the main importer. Wine consumption in the country is steadily expanding and there is still much commercial potential for Catalan wines, both in volume and margins.
