This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the Aplec de la Sardana of L’Escala, with various pre-programming activities. Orchestras, known as cobles, will be the City of Girona, Els Rossinyolets, the Principal de L’Escala and the Bisbal Jove are the guests of this year.
The events of the 40th anniversary began on the May 22nd with the inauguration of an exhibition of L’Escala as Pubilla City of the Sardana 2010 (in the gallery Mestral).
As preliminaries there are also two presentations of books, stories about the music and the sardana, a conference, sardanes and traditional dances, and a memorial concert with the Cobla City of Girona, which also celebrates its 40 years (this Saturday).
The Aplec de la Sardana of L’Escala will be on Sunday, morning and evening, with thirty sardanas provided, including five premieres.
