This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the Aplec de la Sardana of L’Escala<\/a>, with various pre-programming activities. Orchestras, known as cobles<\/em>, will be the City of Girona, Els \u00a0Rossinyolets, the Principal de L’Escala and the Bisbal Jove are the guests of this year.<\/p>\n

The events of the 40th anniversary began on the May 22nd with the inauguration of an exhibition of L’Escala as Pubilla City of the Sardana 2010 (in the gallery Mestral).<\/p>\n

As preliminaries there are also two presentations of books, stories about the music and the sardana, a conference, sardanes and traditional dances, and a memorial concert with the Cobla City of Girona, which also celebrates its 40 years (this Saturday).<\/p>\n

The Aplec de la Sardana of L’Escala will be on Sunday, morning and evening, with thirty sardanas provided, including five premieres.<\/p>\n
